The Lord owns the key of our lives

The Lord owns the key of our lives

By REV. FR. SAMUEL FREDERICK

Gen. 1:1-19, Mk 6:53-56. Today's first reading gives a wide-angle view of the universe as the sanctuary or throne for God’s majestic presence. All our spiritual ceremonies, whether at home or in our Church must reflect the reality of our world, such that they can be reminders of God’s greatness that conform to our understanding. However, without regular liturgy we can lose sight of God’s mysterious presence in our daily living. In the world created by God to be good, there exist dark spots, sickness, disorder, grief and injustice made by man. In today’s reading Gospel, we experience the healing touch of Jesus that brings hope and consolation to those who were sick.

Jesus calls His followers to imitate Him and be instruments of God to cleanse and revive our world that was made to be good. Our efforts of showing kindness and love extend the range of Jesus’ healing touch; our words of forgiveness and encouragement echo the word of God. In our lives, it is often in our brokenness that we seek out the Lord with the greatest urgency. Sometimes, things happens to us that reminds us of our vulnerability, weakness and inability to manage them. In those situations, when we come face to face with our limitations, we must seek out the Lord with greater energy and an urgency. It is those experiences, where we come face to face with our frailties, that makes us understand our need for God and our dependence on Him. It is often the darker and more painful experiences of life that open us up to the Lord to experience His healing power.

May the love of the Lord be with us during this week and guide us in our work! Amen!! Good morning and have a productive week!!!
