In response to the pastoral needs and care of the faithful of Abeokuta Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Olukayode Odetoyinbo has created two new parishes for the Diocese.

The two parishes are St. Theresa Catholic Church, Ilo-Awela; carved out of St. Peter Catholic Church, Ota in St. Peter Deanery, Ota and Catholic Church of Resurrection, Warewa; carved out of the Catholic Church of Transfiguration, Arepo, in St. Maria Faustina Deanery, Arepo. This brings the number of Parishes in the Diocese to 81 with 12 Deaneries.

Announcing the creation of the parishes through the Deans of the two Deaneries; Very Rev. Fr. Clement Ashade and Very Rev. Fr. Michael Ogbitebu respectfully at their 2025 Deanery Cathedratica, Bishop Odetoyinbo said that the Church in Abeokuta Diocese is growing and expanding, stressing that it is very important for the Church to move closer to the people

He added that it is also necessary for the Church to respond to the spiritual needs of the people of God. He assured that more parishes will be created in the Diocese as it gets more personnel to administer them.
