Christians, especially Catholics have been cautioned on how they acquire wealth, saying that unholy means of wealth often lead to condemnation and destruction.

They need the wisdom of God, which is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in discerning the holy and legitimate means of acquiring wealth.

These were the words of the Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Olukayode Odetoyinbo, in the homily he delivered at St. Michael Catholic Church, Ajilete, while administering Sacrament of Confirmation on 120 faithful in the parish.

The ceremony also featured blessings of the parish grotto and a block of ward at the Sacred Heart Hospital annex, Ajilete.

While castigating those who use the wisdom that God gives them to commit fraud and cheat on other people, the Local Ordinary of Abeokuta Diocese cautioned that frivolities of life and materialism will lead them to destruction.

"Though, possession of material things is not a sin, but such should be possessed through holy and legal means. Whoever does the will of God will enjoy God’s favour in this world and eternal life.

Speaking on the importance of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit in the life of every confirmed Catholic, Bishop Odetoyinbo said that the gifts must not be allowed to go dormant, but be put into proper use for the salvation of their souls.

He said that these gifts should be made active in our lives for our salvation and as well combat forces in the world.

"When you are at cross road in our life journey, education, carrier, choosing of life partners, you should invoke these gifts and God will give us direction. Through these gifts, we will overcome life temptations and challenges".
