Submit yourselves to the Kingship of Christ, Bishop Odetoyinbo tells Catholics

Bishop Peter Odetoyinbo has disclosed that for Christians to encounter divine transformation, they must submit themselves totally to the kingship of Jesus and allow Him to direct them.

He who made these assertions in his homily at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Cathedral, Itesi, Adatan Road, Abeokuta, on the feast of the Solemnity of Christ the King of the Universe; charging Christians to examine their lives in relationship with God in order to know whether Christ is truly the King in their lives.

He said, “as Christ followers, we must submit ourselves totally to Jesus for Him to take charge. We must open our hearts for Jesus to rule us for without Christ in our lives, we are nothing”.

He added that “if we can open our hearts to him and submit ourselves to God completely, we will experience divine transformation and total turn around in our lives.

The Chief shepherd noted that rather than opening our hearts to God, many people prefer to open it to frivolities of life, which he said were against the will of God for them.

“When we proclaim Jesus Christ as our King, it is first of all, an acknowledgement that He is our Lord, and we are His people, and because we are His people, we have to follow His directives, His dictates and live by the rules and regulations that He lays down. And then, in return, we look up to Him, to provide for us, to take care of all our needs, both spiritual and temporal”.

While speaking on the recent #EndSARS protest in the country, Bishop Odetoyinbo blamed the country’s political leaders, attributing the protest to what he described as ‘insensitivity’ of the leaders to the plight of the masses.

He therefore called on the leaders to ensure even distribution of the nation’s resources for the benefit of the masses, adding that Nigerians should be their brothers’ keepers, especially in this trying period.
