The celebration to mark the Silver Jubilee of Priestly Ordination of Very Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Adebayo Lewis took place on Saturday 30th October, 2021 at the St. Albert the Great Major Seminary, Idowu-Offoron. The thanksgiving mass had in attendance: Staff and Students of St. Albert the Great Seminary, Family and friends of the Celebrant, Priests from the Seminary of Ss. Peter and Paul, Bodija, Ibadan, Lagos Archdiocese, Abeokuta and Ijebu Ode dioceses respectively.

The homilist Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Aigbona, CSSR, termed the celebration of the silver jubilee of Very Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Lewis, the celebration of the faithfulness and everlasting love of God in the life of the celebrant; an acknowledgement of blessed assurance. According to him, the beauty of the call to the priesthood is the proclamation of the love of God to the world. Though the celebrant responded to God’s call with all his imperfections, his faith in the Lord like Abraham and Mary has taken him beyond his moments of doubt and weakness. Hence the priesthood showcases the beauty of courage, openness, faith and hope.

He described the celebrant as a selfless and sincere priest that cares about others with a deep sense of empathy, compassion and love. He indicated that on the transfer of the celebrant to the Seminary, the classmates had no doubt that he would be a blessing to the seminary and after 25yrs of growth in the wisdom and grace of God, he deserved to be celebrated and encouraged. He remarked that the celebrant has never been afraid of being sent where to work from his days in the Archdiocese of Lagos and Abeokuta Diocese where pastoral assignments took him to places like Ajilete, Agbara, Idiroko, Ota, and now the Seminary. He ended by thanking his family and the seminary community for their support to the celebrant.

In his closing remarks, Very Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Lewis thanked the Lord for his priestly life ad ministry in the past 25years; and those that the Lord has chosen to direct the course of his vocation from Eminence Anthony Cardinal Okojie, Archbishop Alfred Martins and Bishop Peter Odetoyinbo. He also thanked his parents, family, friends, Staff and Students of St Albert the Great Seminary and requested everyone to continue to pray for him that he will remain faithful to God’s call till the end. The second part of the ceremony was the launching of a book published by him on the occasion of his silver jubilee.
