The Memorial of the Guardan Angels

Zech. 2:1-8, Mt. 18:1-5.10. On this day we celebrate the memorial of Guardian Angels, sent by God to be our guide and protector, to be the one resisting the temptation of the evil one and his wicked allies in a constant spiritual warfare and struggle. God appoints for us Guardian Angels to go before us to lead our path always. They stand by us, ever willing to help us if we call upon them. They prepare the way, they protect us, guide us and finally lead us on the ways to Heaven. Since many have forgotten the reality of Angels and the help they offer us, the Gospels portray them as messengers of God, the words of Jesus make this belief more personal: “See that you despise not one of these little ones: for I say to you, that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father who is in heaven” (Mt. 18:10). Belief in Guardian Angels is also implied in the letter to the Hebrew (1:14): “Are they not ministering spirits, serving those who shall be heirs of salvation?” We read how an angel escorted saint Peter out of prison (Acts 12:12ff). Another instance is the Angel who encouraged Jesus in the garden, during His agony on the eve of His Passion. God promised His people on their way in the wilderness: "I am going to send an angel in front of you, to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared.” Many centuries later, an early Christian author urges us to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some have entertained Angels without knowing it (Heb. 13:2). While it is logically hard to believe, we are challenged to find the idea of the presence of Guardian Angels encouraging, especially when preparing for sleep. They are always by our sides when the devil and the fallen angels strike at us, pulling and tempting us to fall into sin. They are the voices of reason and wisdom in our hearts and in our minds, keeping us strong despite the strong temptations and challenges that we have to constantly face at all times. Angels of God, our Dear Guardian, to whom God's love commit us here, ever this day be at our side to light and guard, to rule and guide! Amen!! Good morning, have a glorious day!!!
