Be light of Christ to the world, Bishop Odetoyinbo charges faithful as he confirms 90 at Ijaiye

Most Rev. Dr. Peter Olukayode Odetoyinbo has described all Catholics as light of Jesus Christ to the world, urging them to allow their light radiate through the nooks and crannies of their communities, so that other people may through them know and come to Jesus Christ.

The Bishop, who said this at St. Rita Catholic Church, Ijaiye, while administering Sacrament of Confirmation on 90 faithful; enjoined the faithful especially the confirmands to be upright in their dealings with God and their neighbours.

He said, as humans and sinners, we need to seek God in our weaknesses for the light of God to shine through us, adding that to be true ambassadors of Christ, we all need the light of Christ.

He added that we need to engage ourselves with corporal work of mercy by taking good care of the poor and needy around us, positing that through this, the light of Jesus Christ can shine to others.

He said, “anyone that operates with the wisdom of God will attend to the needs of the poor and needy around him/her and live the life of righteousness”.

The Chief Shepherd reminded the confirmands that “with the Sacrament they received, they are now soldiers of Christ, urging them to make use of all the gifts of the Holy Spirit that abound in the Sacrament of Confirmation for them to journey with Christ.

He advised the faithful to always invoke the gifts of the Holy Spirit before they do anything.

He expressed his displeasure on the high rate of decadence in the society, which according to him has reared its ugly head in the house of God.

After the administration of the Sacrament of Confirmation, Bishop Odetoyinbo blessed the newly constructed Chapel of Perpetual Adoration of the parish and warned the parishioners to desist from desecrating the Chapel of Perpetual Adoration; saying that it is a sacred place meant for prayer.

During his remarks, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Gregory Fadele thanked His Lordship for his love and concern for the parish. According to him, the Bishop has always supported every effort to promote the spiritual and physical development of the parish and appreciated him for coming to confer the sacrament of confirmation on the faithful of the parish.
