Journalism must be at the service of peace- Bishop Odetoyinbo warns

Most Rev. Dr. Peter Odetoyinbo, the Bishop of Abeokuta Diocese admonished the faithful to use the means of social communication in a responsible manner so that the peace in the world can be sustained. While drawing heavily from the rich words of Pope Francis in his message for the 52nd World Communications Day, he said, "we must all make sure that news that are sent to us from various means are verified before they are transmitted, so that we do not become agents of sharing bad news in the world and the dignity of the human persons is not taken for granted" He further encouraged journalists and media practitioners in the country to remember that they are agents of peace in the world and not allow themselves to be used by some persons to spread fake news in order to gain political and economic advantage.
