Doubt Destroys Our Relationship with God – Bishop Odetoyinbo

Catholics have been encouraged not to doubt any aspect of their faith, as such destroys the established relationship with God.

Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta, Most Revd. Dr. Peter Kayode Odetoyinbo made the remarks during this year's Diocesan celebration of the Divine Mercy Sunday at St. John Bosco Catholic Church Alagbole.

Noting that it is by faith that one confirms the mercies of God, the prelate encouraged the devotees to see doubt as a sin before God, but instead they should repose their trust completely in the Divine Mercy Personified, as revealed by St. Maria Faustina.

Bishop Odetoyinbo also lamented that Catholics have not fully utilized enough of God's unfathomable and incomprehensible mercies, saying that His mercy covers all we need in life.

Talking further, Bishop Odetoyinbo admonished Catholics to approach the Sacrament of Confession regularly without any doubt, noting that when we feel we have not sinned, we should still approach the sacrament to receive grace to save, comfort and bring God's mercy on us. Finally, he asked that all be true reflections of God's mercy in our dealings with our fellow being.

At the occasion, there was also consecration of new members as Apostles, renewal of oath by old members, thanksgiving by all members and a reception at which a befitting cake for the occasion was cut by the Bishop together with the Diocesan Chaplain; Fr. Sunday Adeniran Peter, the host Parish Priest; Fr. Anthony Adekunle Famoroti and the Diocesan Leader; Engr. Adenubi Solomon Adetola, KSM.
