Bishop Odetoyinbo commissions new projects at the Sacred Heart Hospital Lantoro, …dedicates N.H.I.A building in honour Sr. Roseleen DaSilva.

History was made on Tuesday January16th, 2024 at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Lantoro; the first Hospital in Nigeria, when His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Kayode Odetoyinbo commissioned the new building of medical records for N.H.I.A and Creche usage. The building was blessed by His Lordship and dedicated in honour of Sr. Roseleen DaSilva who worked at the Hospital for many years until her retirement. She joined the list of great men and women such as Fr. Coquard Dr. Biersack, and several other missionaries who had at some point in history added value in no small measure to the glory of the Hospital during their life and time.

Present at the mass were Priests, Religious, Laity, Staff of the Hospital, Staff and Students of the Sacred Heart School of Nursing and other invited guests. During the homily, the Bishop enjoined the Administrator and Staff of the Hospital to consider their services as their participation in the overall mission of the Church; the mission to save souls and preach the good news of the kingdom of God through health care delivery. According to him, the hospital apostolate affords the Church the opportunity to show the healing power of Jesus to the world.

The Bishop advocated for rededication and commitment to goals of the Hospital and the Diocese. He further enjoined them to remain focused and be generous in their services to the people. He prayed for God’s protection on them against all forms of hazards associated with their work and imparted blessing upon the administrator, staff of the Hospital, staff and students of the Sacred Heart School of Nursing and everyone. The blessing and commissioning of the new building followed immediately after mass.
