Be witnesses to Christ - Bishop Odetoyinbo admonishes newly confirmed

As parts of activities to close the 2022/2023 academic session, Marie Balavenne's Catholic College, Ilogbo-Asowo, in St. Peter Deanery, Ota, recently brought forward 19 of its students for Sacrament of Confirmation.
The sacrament was administered on the students by the Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Olukayode Odetoyinbo.

In his homily, Bishop Odetoyinbo charged the newly confirmed students to emulate the patron saints; whose names they have chosen, saying that they should seek for their intercession in their spiritual journey towards heaven.

“The saints, whose names you have chosen both at baptism and Confirmation are your spiritual friends, who are to accompany you in your life journey. Call on them from heaven, they will answer you and intercede for you”.
He noted that all the Saints were once human beings, who have live in this world before us, faced challenges, temptations, but conquered through the power of the Holy Spirit
He charged them to make themselves available for God to evangelize and proclaim the gospel of God anywhere they find themselves.
He said, “with the gifts of the Holy Spirit received through the sacrament, you are expected to give yourselves in total submission and dedication to evangelization, as you commit to changing the world.
He said, "after receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation, you are expected to go out and proclaim the goodnews of the Lord, Jesus Christ, because the power of the Holy Spirit is in you, with you, guide you to confront the challenges of life. The gifts are to equip in your life journey. You need 'wisdom' to make critical decision in your life journey. The spirit enlightens and empowers you to face any challenge and conquer the world. The Holy Spirit does not give us power to be timid and lazy, but to live good and meaningful life”.
